Your PixGo Wallet is self-custody — you're the bank. That means total control + total responsibility. This guide shows the most common crypto scams, how to configure strong security on the wallet, and a complete checklist to not lose your funds.
- Never share your 12-word seed — not with support, not with "dev friend"
- Backup seed in 2 different physical locations (paper + safe, paper + 1Password)
- Enable biometrics + strong password (not obvious)
- Only use the official URL: wallet.pixgo.org — verify HTTPS
- Hardware wallet for large funds (Ledger Nano, Trezor)
- PixGo support NEVER asks for seed, password, or does "message verification"
The 6 most common scams (and how to avoid)
Scam 1: "Official support asks for your seed"
You open ticket / DM asking for help. Someone responds posing as "official support". Asks: "send me print of your seed to validate". You send → they import your wallet → take everything.
Defense:
- PixGo NEVER asks for seed. Never. Under no circumstances.
- Official support only via /chamados (logged in) or [email protected] email
- Telegram support: @PixGoOrg only (no variants like @PixGo_Support)
Scam 2: "Fake PixGo Wallet site"
Attacker registers pixgo-wallet.com, pixgowallet.org, wallet-pixgo.com, pixg0.org (with zero). Identical visual copy.
Defense:
- ALWAYS type the domain: wallet.pixgo.org
- Verify HTTPS + green padlock before typing seed
- Bookmark for safe access
- Don't click "PixGo wallet" links in DMs or ads
Scam 3: "You won airdrop / PixGo promo"
DM saying "congrats, your wallet selected for R$500 USDT airdrop! Connect wallet here: [malicious link]".
Defense:
- PixGo doesn't do random airdrops via DM
- Real promos announced at pixgo.org/blog or official channels
- "Connect your wallet" = danger
Scam 4: "Cheap coin!" / "Free DEPIX generator"
Link/app promising free DEPIX or half-price crypto. App is trojan → steals seed/password.
Defense:
- PixGo apps only from the Android button on the wallet.pixgo.org home page
- Don't install crypto apps outside official sources
- "Unreal" promise = guaranteed scam
Scam 5: "Exchange/PixGo agent calling you"
You buy crypto, sell something. Get call from "PixGo agent" asking to "confirm transaction" by giving SMS/2FA code.
Defense:
- PixGo doesn't call users. Everything via /chamados or email
- "Phone agent" asking SMS = 100% scam
Scam 6: Device compromise
You click malicious file/link, virus installs on phone/PC, watches everything you type (including seed).
Defense:
- Keep OS updated
- Basic antivirus (Windows Defender enough most cases)
- Don't install pirated/cracked apps
- Large funds (>R$5k): hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor)
Configure strong wallet security
1. Unlock password
- Minimum 12 characters
- Mix uppercase + lowercase + number + symbol
- DON'T reuse another account's password
- Save in 1Password / Bitwarden / iCloud Keychain (not in Notes)
2. Biometrics (recommended)
In Settings → Biometrics:
- Fingerprint/face unlock
- Biometric confirmation on sends
3. Auto-lock
Settings → Auto-lock at 1-3 minutes.
4. Verified backup
Settings has Backup → Verify seed. Wallet asks you to type 3 random words from your seed. Do this every 6 months.
Hardware wallet — when worth it
| Scenario | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Balance < R$500 | Standard wallet OK |
| Balance R$500 - R$5,000 | Wallet + WELL-stored seed |
| Balance R$5,000 - R$30,000 | Consider Ledger Nano S Plus (~R$400) |
| Balance > R$30,000 | Hardware wallet MANDATORY |
What to do if hacked
- Get NEW wallet (new seed)
- From hacked wallet, transfer ALL remaining balance to new wallet IMMEDIATELY
- DON'T use hacked wallet again
- Reset passwords: email, PixGo, social media
- Reset device (factory reset)
- Open /chamados to alert
- Examine how it leaked: fake site? Phishing? Malicious app?
Monthly security checklist
- Seed legible and accessible in 2 locations
- Update app/OS if pending
- Review transaction history — anything you didn't do?
- Password manager has strong master password
- Biometrics active
- Auto-lock 1-3min
- Removed old sessions if changed device
- wallet.pixgo.org in bookmarks (don't type)
- No pirated/cracked apps on phone
FAQ security
Does PixGo hold my funds?
NO. PixGo Wallet is self-custody. Funds are on Liquid blockchain, controlled by SEED only you have.
What if PixGo company disappears?
Your wallet continues. Import seed into alternative Liquid wallet (SideSwap, Blockstream Green).
Is there 2FA on PixGo Wallet?
2FA Google Authenticator available on PixGo ACCOUNT (site login), not on wallet. Wallet uses biometrics + password.
Can I share seed with spouse/partner?
Technically yes — anyone with seed controls wallet. For two owners, ideal is multi-sig (not yet supported in PixGo Wallet).
Can I use wallet on multiple devices?
Yes. Import same seed on multiple devices. Each shows same view.
"Encrypted iCloud/Google Drive backup" saves my seed?
Some wallets do this. PixGo Wallet does NOT auto-upload seed. You're responsible to write down. If you want cloud, write MANUALLY in Bitwarden or 1Password.
Phishing simulator: how to know if email is really PixGo?
1. Verify sender domain: @pixgo.org (not @pixgo-noreply.com). 2. Hover over links without clicking: must point to pixgo.org. 3. In doubt: DON'T click. Access pixgo.org directly.
Practical summary
- Seed: backup in 2 places, NEVER share (support never asks)
- Strong password (12+ chars) + biometrics + auto-lock 1-3min
- Only use wallet.pixgo.org directly (verify HTTPS + bookmark)
- App only from the Android button on the wallet.pixgo.org home page
- "Unreal" promises = guaranteed scam
- Phone agent or DM asking for seed/SMS = 100% scam
- Funds > R$30k: hardware wallet mandatory
- Hacked? Move everything to new wallet IMMEDIATELY
- Monthly checklist to maintain routine
